Jewellery Art and Design Diploma
Program Description:
This program is designed to enable the students to design and create jewellery using combination of gemstones and metal (Gold, Silver, etc.) base. The design process is done by computer and students have the chance to practice making jewellery in real world.


Introduction to manual drawing process
Description:
The course is engaging the students to acquire the competence required to produce drawings using manual drafting techniques.

History of Art 1
Description:
This course is an introduction to the study of concepts and problems with an emphasis on aesthetics, style, social context and techniques. Content assesses progress in art in terms of dynamics and stylistic change. Emphasis is on the relationship of contemporary art and art of the past. The course includes lectures, audio visuals, assignments, critiques and discussions.
The course continues the survey of the history of art with an emphasis on the development and transformation of costume and ornament design.
This course assesses the history of art as it enters the modern period. The theoretical basis, techniques and meanings of modern art are covered. A continuation of History of Art 3, this course emphasizes issues common to contemporary artists. The complex set of relationships between the artist and society are examined in detail.

Jewellery Making

Plan and Create Gem settings
Description:
This course focuses on the techniques to set a gem stone on a base made of metal (Gold, Silver, etc) Students will develop the skills to design jewellery items and create treated gemstones to be placed (set) on the base

Plan and apply surface treatment
Description:
This course focuses on the techniques to process a gem stone and get it ready to be placed on a base made of metal (Gold, Silver, etc) Students will develop the skills to design jewellery items and create treated gemstones to be placed (set) on the base

Gemology
Description:
This course provides an introduction to gemstones. The student learns a wealth of practical knowledge, which can be successfully used in the jewelry business. Emphasis is placed on gemstone properties and characteristics. Topics include quality and value factors, characteristics that make gemstones beautiful and unique, factors that influence gemstone color, faceted cut styles and care and cleaning of gems.

Jewelry Design by computer
Description:
This course focuses on the design and modeling of one-off pieces of jewelry by computer.
Students will develop the skills to design jewellery items and 3D objects using software such as Matrix and Rhino.
Students will achieve skills and knowledge required to explore and apply the design process in a 3-dimensional (3D) environment.

Gemstone Cut

Production techniques
Description:
This course focuses on the techniques to build different types of jewellery or valuable coins.

Jewelry Design Workshop/Project
Description:
Through this final project, the graduating student is given freedom to work in the techniques of their choice. A general theme is given and from there the student sets his/her own criteria, and work on an individual basis. All students are expected to set up their own displays for the graduation exhibit. This display is viewed as part of the project.
