From high 70's Fahrenheit (low 20's Celsius) in summer to a mild mid 40's Fahrenheit (0º to 5º Celsius) in winter, the climate is always hospitable. Our winters are wet, but it rarely snows, except on our local ski hills.

The City's streets are generally laid out in a standard grid, with the more modern neighbourhoods - those defined as unified developments - tending to have streets that wander. The streets of the grid run north-south and the avenues are east-west. The avenues, for the most part, are numbered-First, Second, Third and so on, with two major avenues breaking that flow: Broadway, which should be Ninth, and King Edward Avenue, which should be 25th. All the streets are named, as are all the roadways in the downtown core.
Most of the times Google Maps in Vancouver is a reliable source for direction on public transit, car, walking and even special routes for biking.
Vancouver is a breeze to get around. Walkers love compact downtown, with wide sidewalks and plenty of coffee shops along the way. Take your blades or your bike to Kitsilano or Commercial, or act like a local and hop on a public bus or skytrain. There are plenty of car rental shops, and ferries to take you to and from Vancouver Island. The Vancouver transit system, TransLink, is made up of a network of buses and unique services such as the SeaBus and SkyTrain. TransLink provides transit services covering over 1800 square kilometres of the Greater Mainland of Vancouver - getting around the city is convenient, easily accessible and often provides beautiful views of the city!
