NAFTA & students from Mexico
I was in Mexico City last week. And had the unique pleasure to visit some of our incredible partners who help individuals interested in studying in Canada make informed decisions.
It is no secret that many of our students decide to stay in Canada after graduation. Canada is an amazing country and it is no surprise that students choose to make this beautiful land their home after they’ve had a taste. This along with (what I believe are unfair) regulation changes have made public institutions a more attractive choice because of PGWP — Post Graduate Work Permit.
This is not news. I have been grappling with all parties involved regarding PGWP for years now. What surprised me was Mexican nationals worrying about it. I had always thought that Mexicans are luckier than nationals of most other countries if they decide to stay in Canada after graduation because they have a very easy immigration pathway in front of them. Yes, I am referring to NAFTA — North American Free Trade Agreement.
After one special meeting, I couldn’t help running back to the hotel room to formalize what I already knew into an email and send it out. The following is pretty much the exact email I sent this partner.
Please read through it, comment, ask questions, and let’s learn together. After all, I am an educator by trade. This is in my nature.
- NAFTA accepts work experience in co-op – PGWP does not.
- There is no minimum English required at the time of applying for the work permit – PGWP graduates must have an IELTS score of more than 6 to be able to register their names in the express entry.
- PGWP takes at least two years to study – for NAFTA they only need to get a diploma and a job offer.
- PGWP is Much more expensive ( at least 4 times more for a similar program)
- Finding a job with a diploma and lower pay is much easier than a job that requires a degree with a much higher anticipated pay rate

Our next term starts on Monday, April 5th, 2021. The spring 2021 term is an exciting time for us as, hopefully, we will start to recover from the COVID19 Pandemic.
We do not have any evidence at the moment that would support being able to open our campus back to live classed but we remain hopeful. With our COVID19 safety plan in place, we are able to provide admission to international students and currently have a very exciting grant for many applicants.
Please contact us for more information about the Spring 2021 term.

ITD Partner Announcement – 2021
The following letter was sent from our Vice President, Jamak Golshani, to all of our active partners. If you are a partner and did not receive this correspondence please contact our Agent’s Department and we’ll be happy to assist.
“I hope 2021 is off to a great start so far and that you and your family are healthy, happy, and filled with hope.
Towards the end of last year, James from Edvisor interviewed me. I thought the interview was filled with useful information but wanted to wait for January to send it out to you.
In the interview, I go over the details of the unique grant that we are offering and the relevant information.
Simply put, all of our programs are now available to anyone (who is not holding a current visa to Canada) for only $12,350. This amount can be paid monthly, quarterly, or in full.
Your client only needs $1350 initially to receive their letter of acceptance. We believe this is an incredible opportunity to help create a WIN-WIN-WIN situation with you, your client, and ITD.
Please watch the video then write back with any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you in serving as many students as possible and to help change their lives through their education at ITD Canada. “

ITD COVID-19 Readiness Plan For DLIs
Towards the middle of March of 2020 we officially announced that our Vancouver Campus was indefinitely closed due to the COVID19 Pandemic. Ever since that day, we have been watching and following the advice of government officials to continue serving our students in the safest matter possible.
When the British Columbia government contacted us to provide them with our COVID19 Saftey Plan we were excited and dedicated many hours to developing a solid plan.
Later, on November 17th, 2020, we were one of the first private institutions to become approved. This means that once again, we are able to provide life-altering education to our international students.
If you are interested in any of our programs please contact us so that we can provide additional information. When you are ready, you can use our online application form to start your application process.
